Training and Experience

I am a New York State licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with over twenty years of practice experience. I received my Masters of Social Work in 2001 from Smith School for Social Work.  More recently, I completed a certificate course in Intensive Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy through the William Alanson White Institute.  I have extensive experience with Attachment Theory, Mindfulness, Harm Reduction Psychotherapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.  I have a wide range of experience as a therapist in private practice and community-based social work in traditional and nontraditional settings.  My therapeutic practice is a blended approach of theory and technique tailored to your own style and goals.

I am experienced in working with the challenges of trauma, addiction, substance misuse, eating disorders, as well as chronic medical issues such as HIV and hepatitis.  My therapy practice is diverse regarding race, culture, and sexual orientation.  Recently, I have been working with the World Trade Center Rescue and Recovery workers to help with the emotional effects of this work.
